i dont give lessons - i offer guidance
There are so many great riding coaches out there, and I do not profess to be one of those or aspire to be one. I am also not an equine (or person) therapist.
I am focussed on how our actions impact our horses. I am also not an "expert" in this area either, although I continue to learn and grow my knowledge in this space, and feel like I have much to offer people and their horses.
MIND
Horses communicate with us in every interaction. It is up to us to learn to read this and respond appropriately. This certainly does not mean allowing a horse to walk all over us. Infact a horse will have more confidence in you when you are firm on your boundaries, and also giving recognition when your horse is concerned (or curious). It is a delicate balance. The greatest difficulty is knowing what to do, when - and this is where I want to offer my guidance.
HEART
The other aspect of my guidance is looking at the foundation your horse has. This is also key. I also encourage you not to gallop before you walk :) Have the patience needed to wait, dont be in a hurry. We all have varying degrees of goals, from safe arena/trail riding to competition. The slow way is always the quick way.
Tip: as a consequence of working with the Heart and Mind of the horse, your performance level will also improve. Your progress rate will also increase! Trust the proccess.

What does a Guidance Session looklike?
Arriving at my arena, I will observe your interactions with your horse. The onloading process, saddling, bridling, ground skills and riding. Depending on what I see, will become the starting point. We will then focus on learning some skills to help with what I see. I will likely give you 1 to 3 tools to continue with at home. Dont expect an instant fix (although it does happen), you will need to practice using the tools at home. Of course I will also discuss your goals and help to achieve these.
Prior to your first "One on One - Guidance session, I do encourage you to have an initial 30 minute phone consultation to talk in general about you and your goals. This can save time at a One on One - Guidance session.
